The top ten continues...
Prince - Little Red Corvette
No disco / dance is complete without prince. This is also my favorite Prince song!
Architecture In Helsinki - It's Five
Because of this line : " Because 1 and 1 and 1 and 4 make 2 BUT It's 5!
Phoenix - Too Young
You can't help but dance! Can't you hear it calling? And it was in one of my ALL time Favorite movies - Lost in Translation!
(P.s - Scarlett Johannson is going to play me in the story - ha!)
Stardust - Music Sounds Better with you
Can't go wrong with daft Punk - even if it is a side project! I feel happy when I listen to this!
Kenny Loggins - Footloose
Yeah, I gotta cut footloose
And This is how I dance. I sorta fused flashdance with MC Hammer shit.

Once around the block.
Once Around The Block Lyrics
You quiver like a candle on fire
I'm putting you out
Maybe tonight we could be the shout
But I'm fascinated by your style
Your beauty will last for a while
You're feeling instead of being
The more that I live on the inside
There's nothing to give
I'm infatuated by your moves
I've got to search hard for your clues
I want to repair your desire
And call it a gift
That I stole from just wanting to live
Now I see the vision thru your eyes
Your innocence no longer fuels surprise
Trying to outrun your fear
Running to lose
Heart on your sleeve and your sole in your shoes
Take a left,
A sharp left
And another left, meet me on the corner
And we'll start, again.
You quiver like a candle on fire
I'm putting you out
Maybe tonight we could be the shout
But I'm fascinated by your style
Your beauty will last for a while
You're feeling instead of being
The more that I live on the inside
There's nothing to give

The Movie Of Your Life Is Film Noir |
![]() Your best movie matches: Sin City, L. A. Confidential, Blade Runner |
If Your Life Was a Movie, What Genre Would It Be?
Hmmm am I? I don't see me in any of THOSE movies (being that only one of them can barely scrape into the film noir genre at all) but i won't pass up the chance of actually being a femme fatale ;) LAUREN BACALL woo hoo.
Today i watched a proramme on Wagner. Ok yes he was a little controversial, but it made me think.
Wagner read Shaupenhauer and was intrigued by his theory that human beings are essentially controlled by their desires and that life is a quest for happiness. That is, that was are continually trying to fullfill our basic instincts and desires, which can never be fully satisfied. Shaupenhauer took pessimism to a philosophical level. Wagner took it to a new level by focusing on characters who could only achieve happiness in death (see Tristan and Isolde). Ok, extreme but poignant. We all know the phrase "we always want what we can't have" which works on a similar principle. So, will we ever really be happy?
To top this random post off, here is a corker quote from the almighty Frances McDormand "And I guess that was your accomplice in the woodchipper".
My Disco Ten
If I was a Dj I would be ace. (yeah, I would)
Anyway, Here are my Top 10.
ELO (Electronic Light Orchestra) - Mr Blue Sky
Wonderful! So happy, so fun. The kind dance you can use the 'wave you hands around in the air like a crazy person' move for. (This is the sock puppet version)
M. J ( Michael Jackson) - Don't stop til you get enough
Yeah, It fun. Enough Said.
Abba - Mamma Mia
re: the wonderful world of cheese - Just when you though you knew how cool I am.
Madness - Our House
"Our house, in the middle of our street". Yes! Embrace where you live (even if it is with your parents). I have always lived in the middle of a street - its fun. Happy. Happy. Happy.
Wham! - Wake me up before you go go
"you put the boom boom into my brain, it goes bang bang bang til my feet do the same" ... you can do the 80's walking man to this dance! yeop!
to be continued....

You Are an Excellent Cook |

Lauren fucking Bacall
"Four legged animals are very rewarding, two legged animals are not always so."

Oh lauren Bacall. So classy, so powerful, so striking. The woman amazes me although I know little about her life and stage career, but I love her movies. I just watched her on a re-run of Parkey (where she voiced the above quote) from 2004 and she is so quick-witted and wonderful still (she is now 82!). So I decided to do a post of my all-time favourite actors and actresses, beggining with Lauren Bacall (Betty Joan Perske).
Fact#23: Lauren Bacall and late husband Humphrey Bogart have a speech disorder named after them due to their famously low and husky voices! Bogart-Bacall Syndrome (or BBS) is a form of muscle tension dysphonia most common in professional voice users (actors, singers, TV/radio presenters, etc) who habitually use a very low speaking pitch.
Paul Newman (Paul Leonard Newman)

Oh baby, hot hot hot hot hot. I love Paul Newman. The man is a gem. Not only is he too hollywood royalty, in corker movies and a stunning actor he also makes the best Caesar dressing ever. THEN he donates millions of dollars to charity! So, I'm not just shallow.
Fact#382: While on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Newman was dared to have a taste of his own brand name label dog food. He tried it and was pleased with its taste.
Audrey Hepburn (Audrey Kathleen Hepburn-Ruston)

Audrey is one of my favourite actresses for her timeless, classical quality. Plus I grew up watching her films and envying her Givenchy outfits. She was a famously kindhearted person (she was a UNICEF ambassador who LOVED children) which is also why I admire her.
Fact#1: Audrey was born in Brussels, Belgium to an English father and Dutch mother. Her mother was a Dutch baroness who was descendent of French nobility and English royalty.
Richard Burton (Richard Walter Jenkins Jr.)

The man with the voice. Richard Burton was well known for a few reasons: firstly he liked a drink, he married and divorced Liz Taylor twice (he was her 5th and 6th husband and gave her a 69.42 carat diamond!!) and his voice could make any woman (including me and evidently Liz Taylor's) weak at the knees. Mainly, it's his voice that draws me to him, but he wasn't unattractive.
Fact#73: In 1974 he was permanently banned from BBC productions for questioning the sanity of Winston Churchill during WWII.
Dustin Hoffman (Dustin Lee Hoffman)

I LOVE DUSTIN. I have never ever seen a film with Dustin Hoffman that I did not enjoy. He is brilliant in both dramatic and comedic roles and I love every minute in which he is on the screen.
Fact#56: Dustin once pissed Ol'Blue Eyes off by saying the Oscars were "obscene, dirty and no better than a beauty contest".
Kevin Spacey (Kevin Spacey Fowler)

I am drawn to Kevin Spacey. Like with Dustin, I like him purely because he is an intruiging actor not because I think he's hot (sorry Spacey, but you're as old as my dad). His eyes are mesmirising though. In any case, he's done some killer films.
Fact#193: In year 12 he played the role of Georg Von Trapp in his school's production of The Sound of Music.
Julie Andrews (Julia Elizabeth Wells)

Dame Jules is one of my favourite actresses of all time. I love musicals as much as any gay man and Jules is the QUEEN of musicals. YOU know her for The Sound of Music, but she never originally appeared in the theatre productions of the R&H classic. She became famous for her role opposite Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady in the West End (and later on Broadway) but was flicked by Jack Warner for the film version because she was unknown (he opted for the well-known, tone deaf Audrey Hepburn instead). So Dame Jules went on to do her first film for Disney - Mary Poppins. Both she and Audrey were up for Oscars for their films in the same year. Jules won and in her acceptance speech thanked Jack Warner for making her Oscar win possible. God I love you Jules.
Fact#33: Jules starred opposite Richard Burton in the theatre production of R&H's Camelot (lucky bitch). AND she is married to the man who directed Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Blake Edwards (really I know so many facts, I could go on forever).
Steve Buscemi (Steven Vincent Buscemi)

Steve is a champ. He has acted in more of my favourite films than any one of my other favourite actors: Fargo, The Weding Singer, Reservoir Dogs, Monsters Inc., Big Daddy, Coffee and Cigarettes, Pulp Fiction and he directed Lonesome Jim. He is an incredibly diverse actor and a talented director.
Fact#771: Born in Brooklyn, NY Buscemi was a NYC fire fighter between 1980 and 1984. On September 12th 2001 he returned to his old fire station and worked shifts for a week at "the pile" searching for survivors, anonymously.
Scarlett Johansson

Finally, Scarlett. I not only think that she is one of the hottest actresses ever, she is an almighty talent. She is a classic beauty, with a hint of 1940s screen siren and is simply stunning (yes I am secretly in love with her). Her films are diverse and interesting (she was in North! I didnt know that). I love that she is a role model for a healthy body image.
Fact#22: Scarlett has a twin brother called Hunter Johansson who is also an actor.

Oh lauren Bacall. So classy, so powerful, so striking. The woman amazes me although I know little about her life and stage career, but I love her movies. first impressions: our last?
so the other day i was troubled by the statement "first impressions last". this was not the first time that i have been troubled by these 3 small words, but i recently met someone, who did not give me a good impression, and i now fear that i may never give said person another chance to impress me. but should i agree with the statement that so troubles me?
first of all i decided to make a mental list of all of the first impressions i have ever had. had any of them changed? well, no. so this worried me. i am a fairly good judge of character and when i meet someone, i know fairly quickly whether i am going to like them or not. sometimes i later learn things about new friends that surprise me (like the first time i met cheese i would NEVER have discribed her as a shy person, as she kept saying "where's my tim badge?" to me. now i would say she is less outspoken than i first imagined. get her drunk tho...) but this too happens rarely.
so, does this mean that i am quick to judge and unwilling to reevaluate a new friend's character? no i dont think so, but i do think it means that your first impression will have a profound influence on me.
what about those people whom i have met whilst incredibly intoxicated so that i can not actually remember my first impression of them (and this has happened a few times)? well these people remain first impression-less. rather, my impression of them has been built up over a series of rendez-vous and with each encounter i have gotten to know them a little better. this situation makes me more comfortable. sure their first impression of me was as a sloppy, classless trashbag, but i am not bound to one impression from which i draw all subsequent oppinions about me.
solution: when meeting new people, first get as drunk as possible.

and so it begins
two things happened to me today.
firstly i remembered that i had a blog. then, i remembered that mark has a dreadded "dead blogs" list on which i did not want my blog to appear. then i realised that mark's last blog was on 29th july and i got over that fear.
secondly i decided that i want to start blogging again, so i read my old blog over at livejournal, which i abruptly stopped using Dec. 05. i realised i used to be interesting (and addicted to quizzes so i did this:

Your Hair Should Be Red |

which was fun. appropriately red is the only colour other than brown that i have ever dyed my hair) and now i long to again write an interesting blog. so i took the good bits from my old livejournal and added the magic of digital camera and boom i now have the potential to be interesting (which will hopefully pick me up a man!) so kiddies, brace yourselves!
